History

The Storm began as a summer league team in 1993, under the name as Pond Scum, most of our players coming from the Framingham program.  We had our issues with Framingham, enjoyed playing with each other during the summer, and decided to try and join the South Shore Women's League that fall.  But it didn't materialize.  Ice time then, as it is now, was in demand, and the league couldn't find the hours to support the teams they had (they lost an hour), let alone add any teams to the league.  Most of the Pond Scum preferred sitting out the season, rather than returning to Framingham, and most returned to play another summer season with the Pond Scum.  We tried to join the South Shore Women's League again, and was successful.  The NESC was in it's first season, and the league was able to obtain the ice time necessary to add more teams to the league.  The 1994-95 season was our first season in the league, and our name was changed to the more respectable "Storm".  It was a difficult first year, the team finishing in last place.  Most of the players were beginners (our goaltender being one of them), and the lowest division in the SSWL was made up of teams that had only a smattering of beginners.  There was a large turnover that season, the first year players realizing that  the commitment to a team took more than they expected.  We have improved since then…. And have grown.  We now have a total of 5 teams in our program, playing at three different levels.  Below is a condensed history, and the roster of our very first team

Storm (original)

99-00 :         Finished ? in the B Division

98-99: Tied for first place in the Silver B Division with the Nighthawks B team.  Because the 'head to head' record between the two teams, the Nighthawks B team won first place.

97-98: Won first place in the Bronze division, beating out a very strong Randolph team.  Also took first place in the playoffs.

96-97:

95-96: Finished fifth place (out of seven) during the season, took second place in the playoffs.

94-95: First season in SSWHL.  Finished in last place.

Summer 1994:         Second season as a team under the name of 'Pond Scum' - Summer league only

Summer 1993:         First season as a team under the name of 'Pond Scum' - Summer league only
